Custom picture disc records: your artwork printed edge to edge inside a real record, with your own audio. VinylArt Co cuts them to order on our own lathes, from a 5-inch up to a 12-inch LP picture disc. Every picture disc except the experimental 5-inch plays on a normal turntable at 45 rpm; the 10-inch and 12-inch can be cut at 33⅓ if you choose. One record is a normal order.

Your photo
Printed Edge to Edge, Sealed Inside the Disc.
Your photo is printed on a thin waterproof layer and set inside the record, on the side that plays. The groove is cut through it on a lathe, one record at a time. A gentle clean will not harm the print.
Send the original file rather than a screenshot or a picture saved from social media. At 300dpi that is 3661 px for a 12-inch, 3136 px for a 10-inch or a heart, 2173 px for a 7-inch and 1535 px for a 5-inch.
If a print arrives with a fault that is ours, we reprint it or replace the record.
The back of the disc
Side B Is White Matt. Write on It.
The back of every picture disc — every size, including the heart — is a soft white matt layer. A permanent marker writes on it and stays. So if the record is a gift, you can put the message on the record itself instead of a card: a name, a date, the reason you chose the song.
Let the ink dry before you sleeve it. Write on the white side only — never on the side that plays.

What is a picture disc?
A clear record with your picture sealed inside, so the picture turns as the music plays. Ours are cut one at a time, with your own picture and your own music.
Will a picture disc play on my turntable?
Yes. Every picture disc we make plays on a normal turntable, at 45 rpm (the 10-inch and 12-inch at 45, or 33⅓ if you choose), and the music is on the side your photo is on. The 5-inch is the exception: it is experimental and will not play on every turntable.
Can I write a message on the record?
Yes. Side B of every picture disc, in every size, is a white matt plastic layer made to be written on. Use a permanent marker, give it a minute to dry, and write on the white side only, never on the side that plays.
How does a picture disc sound?
A picture disc is a clear record with your picture sealed inside, cut on the same lathes to the same standard, with exactly the same sound quality as classic vinyl. It plays on any normal turntable.
How much music fits on a picture disc?
Up to 4 minutes on a 5-inch, 6 on a 7-inch, 8½ on a heart, 14 on a 10-inch and 20 on a 12-inch. Those are the limits the designer works to.
What size photo should I send?
The original file, at 300dpi: 3661 px for a 12-inch, 3136 px for a 10-inch or a heart, 2173 px for a 7-inch, 1535 px for a 5-inch. A picture saved from social media is heavily compressed, and it shows in print.
Can I use an album cover or a photo of a celebrity?
No. We are licensed for the music, not for artwork, so album covers, band logos, record label marks and photos of celebrities are out. Your own photos, drawings and designs are fine, and so are images you generated yourself.
Can you make a heart-shaped picture disc?
Yes. It is cut to the outline of a heart, holds up to 8½ minutes of music and comes with stickers, from £27.00.
Do you sell frames?
Not today. Framed records are returning shortly.
