How it works

How to Make an Album Cover

Pick the size of your record, then design the front and the back in your browser. Add your own photos, text, shapes and a background colour, and copy a design from one side to the other. Put the tracklist on the back. You see the cover in 3D as you go, then order it printed, on its own or with a record.

What you can do

Everything One Cover Needs

  • Your Photos

Upload your own photos or artwork. If a picture is too small to print sharp, the designer tells you before you pay.

  • Your Words

A title, names, a date or a message, in a choice of fonts. Add shapes and a background colour around them.

  • Front and Back

Both sides are square, at the exact size of the sleeve. Copy your design across, and put the tracklist on the back.

  • See It in 3D

Turn your cover over and see it as a real sleeve, with a record peeking out of the open side, before you order.

Cheaper with a record: one bundled cover per record.

Picture sizes are for a sharp print at 300 dpi, front and back. Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, TIFF or PDF, or build the cover in the designer and the file is made for you.

Then we print it

Printed on a Real Sleeve

Covers are printed in our workshop on heavyweight archival card, matt or gloss laminated, edge to edge, and cut to size. A person looks at every file before it is printed, and again before it is packed.

Questions People Ask

Is it free to design a record cover?

Yes. Designing costs nothing. You pay only if you order the printed cover.

Can I buy just a cover?

Yes. Order a printed cover on its own for a record you already have, or with a record from us. It costs less when you buy it with the record.

What is the cover of a vinyl record called?

A jacket or a sleeve. The jacket is the printed card cover; the inner sleeve is the paper or card sleeve the record sits in, inside it. We print the jacket, and every record of ours also comes in a card insert sleeve.

What picture works best?

Send the original file, not a screenshot or a picture saved from social media. A good phone photo in decent light is usually enough, and the designer tells you if a picture is too small.

Can I use album artwork or a band logo?

No. Album covers, band logos and record label branding are copyrighted. Use your own photos or artwork instead.

How is it delivered?

By tracked delivery. At checkout you choose Value or Express for your address and see the cost before you pay.
